Sveta Petka

Hydropower Plant “Sveta Petka” was completed and functional as of August 1st, 2012 and it entirely uses the hydropower resources of the Treska River. Installed capacity of hydropower plant is 36,4 MW, and an average annual generation of 43 GWh of electricity.

The power plant is completely automated and with use of embedded sophisticated telecommunication process equipment its operation is may be monitored and controlled remotely from any place, such as production dispatch centre of AD ESM in Skopje, as well as from NDC of AD MEPSO. This dam with height of 64 meters and volume of almost 30.000.000 m3 of concrete represents double curvature arch dam and as such it is first and unique dam of this type constructed in North Macedonia.

HPP “Sveta Petka” was constructed using high quality building material and ultra-sophisticated technique and technology which are enabling secure system, low maintenance costs and high rate of utilization. Total investment cost amounts 75 million euros which makes this investment one of the most valuable in the part of use of our energy potential.

Main characteristics of the HPP Sveta Petka are:

With the completion of one of the most complex projects  – realization of the second phase of the rehabilitation of hydropower plants, installation of the new equipment for monitoring of the dams „Mavrovo“, „Globochica“, „Spilje“, „Tikves“, „Kozjak „and“ Sveta Petka“ was finished. Within the project additional equipment was installed, for the automation of electricity production process and for auscultation and observing the conditions, stability and safety of dams and associated facilities.
